Alleged Downwind Accomplice Seeks Trial Move

A man accused of aiding in burning a Red Lake woman’s body has asked for the trial to be moved.

Brandon Rossbach faces one count of aiding an offender in connection to the death of Rose Downwind. The man who allegedly committed the crime, Marchello Cimmarusti, pleaded guilty to a murder charge in April.

Rossbach’s attorney, Kassius Benson, filed a change-of-venue request on Friday, asking for the case to be moved to the Twin Cities. He says the barrage of media coverage that came with this case has turned the community against Rossbach.

Rossbach has a plea hearing scheduled for Tuesday in Beltrami County.
