Alcohol and Meth Are Crow Wing County Most Used Drugs

About 300 people last year in Crow Wing County got help with their problem with alcohol while about 175 people in Crow Wing County got treatment for meth. The Crow Wing County Department of Community Service uses those numbers from Drug and Alcohol Abuse Normative Evaluation System to help the county tailor programs for the community.

Bertram says safe rides have contributed to the decline of people going for alcohol treatment and the rural setting has helped hid meth use.

While the Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge staff says there’s no golden ticket to prevent drug addiction, staff and clients say getting out and talking to the community early can help lessen initial drug use.

Anderson says 74% of MN Teen Challenge long term gradates didn’t have drug or alcohol use in the previous six month and 51% had been sober since graduation.
