The Aitkin Football Field to this point has been an unnamed field, simply going by The Aitkin Football Field. But Come Friday, the Aitkin Football Association will be dedicating and renaming the field “Veteran’s Field.” The association feels strongly in honoring those who serve our country and reminding the community that freedom isn’t free.

Preparations for Friday’s nights football game at Aitkin have already begun in more ways than one. The team is preparing for their match up against Pine City and the field itself it getting prepared for the festivities that night.

And Coach Sanford explained that choosing the name veteran’s field tied perfectly into their program motto of “we, not me.”

But there’s a deeper message coach Sanford feels strongly about the team and community knowing.

And the football game won’t be the only excitement fans expect.

Most of the excitement Friday night will be on renaming the field, but coach says they still have a football game to play.

But in the end, it will be a night dedicated to something bigger than football.
