Aitkin Holds 23rd Annual Fish House Parade

From there to here, from here to there, fabulous fish houses are everywhere! That was the scene in downtown Aitkin today, at least.

For the 23rd straight year, people came from near and far to the small town of about 2,000 citizens to watch the parade of fish houses of all different kinds. Like Scott Batchelder who came all the from Nikiski Alaska

Despite the near sub-zero temperatures, people still lined the streets of downtown Aitkin to celebrate this rich tradition. Even the cold couldn’t keep away 99-year-old Goldie Sauer, who, for the first time, got to see this wonderful wintertime display.

But the thing that really keeps everyone coming back is tradition, and of course, family.
