A Bemidji Man’s Manslaughter Case Rescheduled For September

A hearing for a Bemidji man charged with two counts of second-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of his 2-year-old foster child has been pushed back until September.

38 year old Nathan Daniel Jackson, appeared in court Monday, where his attorney requested that his omnibus hearing be scheduled for a later date to allow time to receive more evidence.

Back in June officers and emergency responders arrived at Jackson’s home where they found the body of a 2-year-old girl, the foster child of Jackson and his fiancé.  Jackson told police he had put the child in the shower with a laundry tote and left her alone.

Search warrant affidavits say that when the body was found by law enforcement, she had several areas of bruising and superficial lacerations around her head and body and a red or pink fluid draining from her nose.

The documents also say police suspect Jackson of using drugs.

Jackson has been held in the Beltrami County Jail since his arrest June 5.

Jackson will appear in court again Sept. 26.
