6 Brainerd elementary schools recieve National Blue Ribbon honors

Baxter Elementary, Garfield Elementary, Harrison Elementary, Lowell Elementary, Nisswa Elementary and Riverside Elementary, all six of Brainerd Public Schools’ elementary schools were honored as 2014 National Blue Ribbon Schools. And the school district says the honor is a reward for the schools’ hard work.
For Brainerd’s Garfield Elementary School, this is the second time they’ve received a National Blue Ribbon honors. And they say the award comes as a surprise again.
Brainerd Schools says this award isn’t just an honor for the schools, but is an award for the entire communities work to educate their students.
Governor Mark Dayton released a statement saying, “What a phenomenal accomplishment, for which the Brainerd School Board, administrators, teachers, parents, and students should be very proud. I recently visited one of Brainerd’s award-winning schools, where I saw the dedication, enthusiasm, and teamwork which made them so successful. I offer them all my warmest congratulations.”
Brainerd School says their work isn’t finished. They still have room to improve for their future students.
