2026 CRMC Championship at Cragun’s Teeing Off This Week
One of the biggest sporting events of the summer is back in the Brainerd Lakes Area. The 2026 CRMC Championship at Cragun’s Legacy Courses is teeing off this week.
Known as one of the premier stops on the PGA TOUR Americas schedule, up-and-coming tour professionals, prominent Minnesota sports figures, and more all hit the greens in support of the CRMC Foundation’s efforts. Among those getting in on the action were Detroit Lakes native and former Minnesota Viking Adam Thielen, as well as Minnesota Wild players Matt Boldy and Ryan Hartman.
“They’re professionals in their own right,” said Hartman. “We get to go and play alongside guys and you know, [it’s] like a fantasy camp for us. We get to see how they play and watch, and also [there’s] some of the best golfers around there competing to move on to higher and higher levels. So it’s fun to see those guys to work and play.”
While the CRMC Championship Pro-Am got underway on Wednesday, where Minnesota’s athletic elite took the time to compete, many local golfers see the tournament as a potential launching pad for their careers.
“Obviously, this is just before the tour, before they make it, right?” said CRMC Championship Tournament Director Jack Wawro. “And you’re catching them at a time where they’re trying to compete and they’re trying to make their way and earn their living, and I think they have a different perspective. If you go to a TOUR event, it’s much more difficult to get a hold of these guys and talk to them. Here, we’re having genuine interactions.”
But the main piece to the CRMC Championship is what the event supports, the CRMC Foundation, which focuses on critical healthcare initiatives, patient care, and community wellness programs throughout the Brainerd Lakes Area.
“For Cuyuna Regional Medical Center, this is really something for us to be able to be a part of,” said CRMC CEO Amy Hart. “This is our fourth year, I believe it might be five. And just to see more and more people coming out and being part of the community and really hearing the stories of what our foundation does and how it supports patients directly.”
The Cuyuna Regional Medical Center’s mission is to deliver exceptional care and compassion by dedicating themselves to any given individuals well-being every day. All taking part in the CRMC Championship are happy to help contribute to the cause.
“Cancer care oncology is one of the main ones, and more and more people are being afflicted with cancer,” Hart added. “With us being able to help with whether it’s gas cards or food or just those things that maybe insurance doesn’t cover, that’s what the foundation is about.”
Round one of the CRMC Championship will start Thursday morning at Cragun’s Legacy Courses.
