20 for 20: Cuyuna Trails Economy (2015)

To celebrate our 20th anniversary of Lakeland News, we’re taking a look back at some of the memorable local stories we’ve covered over the years. We’re calling it 20 For 20: twenty stories in all, one for each of the twenty years we’ve been on the air with Lakeland News.

In 2015, the economy in Crosby was experiencing a revival thanks to the creative use of old mining trails in the area. Reporter Scott Sheahen took a closer look at what the present and future looked like in the area thanks to the recently created mountain bike trails in the area.

Cuyuna trails are ranked nationally at the Silver Level by the International Mounting Biking Association and feature 25 miles of riding spread across 800 acres of paved and single-track trails. More trails are being planned for the future, and the business community continues to grow as well – there are now 15 new businesses in Crosby that weren’t there six years ago.
