Weekend Wrap Up: Things To Do Around Town

There’s plenty of events happening around Beltrami County this weekend! Check out the list below with links to the social media pages or websites if one is available. Enjoy the weekend!

SATURDAY:

Run/Walk/Skate for Suicide Prevention

Saturday starting with registration at 8 AM

The 9th Annual 5KRun/Walk, 10K Run or 10K Skate event to help raise money for suicide prevention, save lives and honor loved ones lost to suicide. By running, walking, skating or collecting pledges, participants will be supporting suicide prevention programming in our schools and community. The event begins at the GW Neilson Convention Center at The Sanford Center on Lake Bemidji. The routes will follow trails on the south-west side of Lake Bemidji.

Trail In A Day

Saturday starting at 9 AM, see website for further details

Help us celebrate the 125th Anniversary of Minnesota State Parks and Trails by grabbing your bike, inline skates or walking shoes and heading out to the Paul Bunyan State Trail. Gather your friends and family to join one of the organized rides, rolls, or other events, or find your favorite spot on the trail between Lake Bemidji and Crow Wing State Parks and go it alone.

Saturday from 9 AM to Noon
Via Facebook: This course helps students learn how to handle different situations when they are left home alone. Students also learn basic first aid skills and information about injury prevention and health including rescue breathing, choking, and poison control. This program is sponsored and put on by the City of Bemidji Police & Fire Department. Cost is $10/person. Held at Public Works Facility, 1351 5th ST.

Story Time At Center Court

Saturday from 10:30 AM to Noon

Via Facebook: Join Usborne Books & More as they host story time at Center Court on Saturday, September 10th and Saturday, September 24th from 10:30-12:00pm. Bring your children into Paul Bunyan Mall’s Center Court while you enjoy many fun story books! Favorite stuffed animals and blankets are welcome!

Bemidji Public Library Story Time

Saturday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Alcohol Ink Workshop

Saturday from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM


Via Facebook: Diane Crawford most recently worked as Artist in Residence for the Pikes Peak Library District in Colorado Springs, teaching Alcohol Inks Classes! Fee: $35/each – includes 2 hours of instruction and supplies needed to begin! Each Class will be limited to 16 participants ages 18 and Older- advanced registration and payment needed. Held at The Old Schoolhouse 2335 Monroe Ave SW Bemidji MN 56601.

Fozz Fest

Saturday from 11 AM to Midnight

Via Facebook: Fozz Fest is a free family festival that features top local artist in the area. Hosted at Fozzie’s Smoking Bar B Q.

Ethnic Fest

Saturday from 11 AM to 8 PM

Via Facebook: A day of diversity. The town will be filled with Ethnic music, food, and crafts. There will be a parade at 11:00 am. There will be a concert on the courthouse lawn at 12:00 pm. Four stages placed around town will have different ethnic bands performing throught the day. There will be Ethnic crafts on Railroad street. Ethnic Food will be set up on the courthouse lawn in Walker, MN. Ethnic After Hours will continue into the evening with bands moving inside our establishments and area restaurants offering ethnic specials.

1st Annual BFCG Golf Fundraiser

Saturday starting at noon

Via Facebook: This is a 4 person golf scramble which you pick your own team, the cost will be $50.00 per golfer, golfers need to be 17 and up. Registartion starts at 12:00 pm and the tournament starts at 1:00 Pm at Twin Pines Golf Course. The tournament will be 18 holes with dinner at the end, we will also have games and prizes throughout the day!! If you would like you can sponsor a hole for $100.00. You can sign up at the Twin pines Golf Course and if you have any questions please send an email to [email protected]. All proceeds will go towards new locker rooms at the hockey arena.

Family Carnival Fundraiser

 Saturday from 1 PM to 4 PM
Via Facebook: Help Support our Circus Arts Program! All proceeds go towards our wishlist: unicycles, portable slackline stands, new juggling balls, static trapeze, performance hammocks, aerial straps, kids aerial hoops, and more. Held at Babe’s Playground.

Dance Party

Saturday from 6 PM to 10PM

Live Music Dance Party hosted by Suzie and Hondo at ClubHONDO! Harvest Moon Ball with Pelican Railroad playing for our dancing pleasure. Dance instruction available. RSVP to 218-766-4043 and for pricing.

Forged In Fosston – Fire & Iron Festival with “Rage N Country”

Saturday from 8 PM to Midnight
Via Facebook: Rage N Coutry will be preforming @ Fosston’s Fire & Iron Festival in Fosston, MN outside of “Ventures Bar & Grill” – With all kinds of fun events going on all day. Come have some fun with us in Fosston.

 

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:

United Kennel Club Dog Show

Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM

Paul Bunyan Dog Training Club hosts Annual United Kennel Club Dog Show. Rally Obedience, UKC Multi-breed Shows, Novice Puppy, Veterans, Brace & Jr Showmanship competitions. Event is free and open to the public.

Gun Show

Saturday from 9AM to 5PM, Sunday from 9 AM to 3 PM

Over 100 vendors: guns, cases, holsters, knives, etc. Admission: $5. Held at the Bemidji Curling Club 23rd St NW.
