TrekNorth Expands: New Charter Elementary School on the way

Top ranking charter school TrekNorth is expanding. They are adding a new charter elementary school in Bemidji through the help of a federal grant.

They will be adding two grade levels, bring in about 15 teachers to the school and also expand the student body by 50 percent – that totals up to about 200 students.

The expansion has been a discussion among school board members for about three years now. They want to eliminate an achievement gap to bring a higher academic success rate.

The school board is currently visiting successful charter elementary schools around the state, and will begin working on the design of the building.

TrekNorth is hoping to start the construction in April 2017 and open the school in Fall of 2018.
