The Minnesota Vikings Win Lawsuit Against Wells Fargo

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Donovan Frank ordered that Wells Fargo’s rooftop signs must be removed. Wells Fargo currently has signs placed on two new office towers next to the new Minnesota Vikings stadium.

The Vikings sued Wells Fargo late last year over the ‘photobombing’ issue. The new stadium is named for U.S. Bank, the largest competitor of Wells Fargo in Minnesota, and the Vikings attorney called the Wells Fargo signs an attempt to “photo bomb” the aerial images that will be broadcast during NFL games and other events in coming years.

The judges order does leave open the possibility that Wells Fargo can install flat, painted roof signs as specified in the bank’s original agreement with the team, but not the raised and lit signs it installed last year.

The Minnesota Vikings new home at U.S. Bank Stadium will formally open later this summer.
