Preview of Tara: Bemidji’s Only Thai Restaurant

Pad Thai, a popular Thai dish here in America and a common street food 8,000 miles away will soon be served in Bemidji.

Tara will be the city’s first and only Thai restaurant, and the owner Keng Dechawuth knows that. For years, he frequently visited Bemidji with big plans in mind.

“This place is perfect for me. I want to scale down right now, I want to have a place I can live and start cooking again … because I miss cooking.”

Dechawuth is a native Thai and has 13 restaurants nationwide. Fueled by his passion, he wants to share a slice of home with this town.

And that means taking advantage of the local offerings, like Bemidji Brewing.

This new addition has been one long-awaited for Bemidjians, with only two Asian restaurants in the city.
