Minnesota State Fair Makes Changes In Security

Changes are coming to the Great Minnesota Get-Together

Officials at the Minnesota State Fair announced Tuesday a major expansion in its security program for this year’s fair.

The fair’s comprehensive security program will be expanded in 2016 to include bag checks at all entry gates. That means bags, purses, cooler and packages will be subject to search at all of the fair’s 11 entrances.

Other safety procedures have been adjusted in other areas, too, including security staffing levels, vehicle access, traffic management and video.

In a statement from the fair, “The State Fair’s security plan is developed in conjunction with local, state and federal public safety agencies.”

The last time the Minnesota State Fair expanded its security systems was in 2002.
