Minnesota Establishments Receive No Major Violations

The Department of Public Safety Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division (DPS-AGED) and the Gambling Control Board went to 110 establishments from September to November to ‘educate establishments on liquor laws and illegal gambling,’ according to a news release from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

Brainerd was one of 12 cities with 12 establishments that were randomly chosen to be inspected by AGED Agents, according to the release.

An establishment in Austin and two in Marshall were fined for violations such as illegal sports betting, selling alcohol bought from a retail store and having unregistered brand labels.

According to the release, 97% of the establishments did not receive any major violations. Some minor violations that were found were, failure of posting the required alcohol warning poster, failure of posting liquor licenses and allowing illegal drawing or dice games.

The AGED agents focused primarily on educating the establishments on over-service and underage consumption to stop alcohol related accidents, according to the release.

“Finding just a few violations in more than 100 establishments shows that bar owners and employees are taking their responsibility seriously, helping to ensure the public’s safety,”stated Carla Cincotta director of DPS-AGED in the release.
