Man Threatens Witness In Beheading Case

A man has been charged with witness tampering in relation to a recent beheading in Hibbing.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on July 15, authorities received information saying a witness to the crime was threatened by a man with ties to the death of David Haiman. His name is Joseph Allen Greniger.

A complaint filed with Itasca County says Greniger sent the witness a Facebook message and later called him, claiming he snitched on a person involved in the crime. The witness was reportedly told “you know what’s coming” as part of the threat.

Greniger denied the threat accusations at first, but later told authorities he told the witness “I am coming to get you”.

Witness tampering carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
