Luther College Student Found Dead in Iowa River

The body of Bjorn Norderhaug, 21, was found Sunday morning from the Upper Iowa River near Decorah, according to Star Tribune.

Norderhaug went missing during the weekend after being at a bar until he was found in the river. Police received a report around 6:30 p.m. Saturday that Norderhaug was missing and they were told that he was last seen downtown about 1:50 a.m Saturday.

Norderhaug was a computer science major and on schedule to graduate in 2017. He had previously lived in Chanhassen.

“We as a community are grieving the loss of one of our own, and are continuing to support Bjorn’s friends and family in every way we can,” said Corey Landstrom, vice president and dean of student life.

More information about the case and what happened that night will be determined once the state medical examiner’s report is complete.
