Leech Lake Swears In New Chairman


The Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe held a swearing in ceremony for its new chairman. Faron Jackson Senior beat Carri Jones in the 2016 reservation election by claiming over 50 percent of the total vote. The voting finished in April.

In addition, Leroy Staples Fairbanks claimed a second term in district 3. The ceremony included dancing from the tribe’s younger and older members, as well as a traditional prayer.
