Justin started working as a Sports/News Reporter at Lakeland News in November 2014. He wrote, produced, shot, and edited all of his stories and highlights for the 10 pm nightly newscast. He took over as Sports Director for Lakeland News in September 2015, and is in charge of our day-to-day sports operations. He produces all sportscasts for our 10 pm nightly newscast, and I shoot, edit, and write all highlights, packages, and other sports stories to be aired.
Justin began his career working in Wisconsin. He previously worked for WISN 12 News (ABC) out of Milwaukee, and WAOW Newsline 9 Sports (ABC) out of Wausau as an intern for both stations. He was responsible for effectively finding and overseeing stories from start to finish for the nightly 5 pm newscast with WISN, and was responsible for finding, shooting, writing, and overseeing sports stories and highlights from start to finish with WAOW.
Justin is a 2013 graduate from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Communication with a Media Studies emphasis, and a minor in Business Administration. He also played football, and was a three-year starter. He anchored and wrote the sports segment for the weekly campus television newscast for SPTV Channel 98, where he won an award for a 3rd place newscast at the annual Wisconsin Broadcaster Association Awards. He also did play-by-play for many of the UWSP Men’s Basketball team’s broadcasts. He attended high school in Elkhorn, Wisconsin and graduated from Elkhorn Area High School in 2009, where he was a three sport athlete, playing football, basketball and baseball.
In his spare time, Justin enjoys staying active working out, playing numerous sports (basketball, softball, and golf), and doing outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoys coaching, and has had the opportunity to coach youth basketball and football in his hometown. He is also an Eagle Scout.
