Brenda Mak joined the Lakeland News team in April 2015, as a news reporter.
A recent graduate of Columbia College Chicago, she began her career interning with news departments at ABC 7 Chicago and NBC 5 Chicago. She has experience in consumer investigative reporting, and has covered stories ranging from local elections to teen incarceration to community outreach events.
While in school, she was a reporter and co-anchor for Metro Minutes, a weekly newscast that airs on Columbia College and CAN-TV.
Brenda is born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and moved to Chicago in 2013 to pursue her degree in broadcast journalism.
She is also multilingual. Aside from her native tongue in English, she speaks and reads Mandarin and Malay, with strong understanding in Cantonese.
She enjoys getting to know people and immerse herself in all cultures and ethnic festivities. She has high interest in social issues, and loves anything food related!
