Itasca County Sheriff Locates Missing Woman

On October 2nd at 8:08 pm the Grand Rapids Police Department received a report that a vehicle was found parked on the 7th Avenue bridge over the Mississippi River. A Grand Rapids Police Officer arrived at the location within two minutes of the time of report. Found within the vehicle were car keys and a purse belonging to a Grand Rapids woman.

Officers and sheriff’s deputies began a search of the area for the woman who was presumed to be the driver of the vehicle. Itasca County Sheriff Search and Rescue Unit were immediately summoned to the scene.

After an exhaustive three day search, the Itasca County Sheriff’s Department located the woman, deceased, in the river, about five blocks downstream from the bridge. She was found at 3 pm on October 5th, 2016. The woman has been identified as 37 year old Lindsay Voltz of Grand Rapids.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Grand Rapids Police Department and the Itasca County Sheriff’s Office. Foul play is not suspected.
