Investigation Continues Following Leech Lake Assault

Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch reports that on Saturday, August 13th 12:58 AM, the Cass County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an assault.

Officers arrived near the Oak Point area of Leech Lake and found an adult male victim had been assaulted with a hatchet.

The victim was transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center for his injuries.

A search of the area was conducted for suspects; however, they had left the area prior to officers’ arrival.

The investigation continues.
