In Focus: Medieval Martial Arts

The medieval times return to Northern Minnesota, as one kingdom battles it out on the field of Beltrami County Fairgrounds every other Saturday.

Members of the Kingdom of Northshield, also part of a worldwide organization called the Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a historic recreation group that picks a specific period in time to study. There are over 20 kingdoms worldwide.

For many, it’s more than just fighting, it’s more than just a hobby, but rather it has been a lifestyle.

Every year, these kingdoms attend the Pennsic War at Pennsylvania, an annual event that attracts more than 10,000 people.

The SCA has practices weekly and welcomes anyone interested to join in.
