The Heartland Symphony Orchestra (HSO) under the direction of Josh Aerie presents Sounds from the Heartland, in celebration of the HSO’s 35th anniversary. This concert features North Country Suite by American composer Rick Sowash and was specially commissioned by the HSO.

This 5-movement work celebrates Minnesota’s heritage and environment with wit and beauty. The first half of the concert features a musical look back at some pieces performed early in the Orchestra’s history, including Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Strauss’ Radetzky March and Grieg’s Holberg Suite.

This concert was recorded April 15, 2012 at the Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd, Minnesota.
