Ground Broken For Long Awaited Northland Community Schools Building

Hard hats on, shovels up.

A highly anticipated project decades in the making is coming to life. Dozens of community members brought their shovels to break grounds at Remer’s Northland Community Schools Wednesday for a new school building in 2017. This day has been a long awaited vision for the small town of Remer and surrounding communities.

“It is very important to us that this gets done because we knew this was probably our last chance,” parent and Northland graduate Stacey Wake said.

Both Remer Elementary School and Northland High School are the district’s only schools, bringing in students from Longville, Outing, Federal Dam and Boy River.  For more than 50 years the school stayed the same, with little improvements made over the years. 53 community meetings and two elections later, the 26-million dollar project will finally begin construction.
