Golden Apple: Local Farmers Visit Laporte School Gardeners

Behind Laporte Public Schools lie fresh fruits and greens ready for harvest, but today these little gardeners have a much tastier agenda.

From maple syrup to pea shoots to kale pizza – local farmers brought out some homegrown produce for kids to try, to share new flavors and let them know what it takes to bring food to the plate.

With the overwhelming love for tomatoes in its garden, teachers hope to inspire students to grow fruits like the melon, that take a longer time to ripen so that kids can reap what they sow next year.
