Five Farmington Schools Placed on Lockdown

FARMINGTON – Five Farmington schools were placed on modified lockdown this morning for about 20 minutes while police searched for an active shooter.

A man shooting at squirrels on his property with a pellet gun caused the police department to order the schools on lock down after hearing of a gunfire report.

Farmington Elementary, Boeckman Middle, Dodge Middle. Riverview Elementary, and Farmington Elementary schools were all on lockdown per request by the Farmington Police Department according to the Bemidji Pioneer.

Around 9:35 a.m, the Farmington Police Department posted the following message on Facebook: “The police incident in downtown Farmington has been cleared. Some of the schools were put on lockdown as a precaution. There was never any direct threat to the schools.”

Anchor Bank was also on lockdown. All students remained safe and secure during the procedure and no threat was found.
