Drug Dealing Brothers Sentenced

Two brothers of Grand Rapids were sentenced for selling methamphetamine out of their apartment.

Keith Scovel, 28, and Bryan King, 30, were arrested in March for the attempt of selling meth to a “cooperating defendant (CD),” as stated by the Herald Review.

The CD purchased $600 worth of meth from Scovel on March 15^th, after being lead to the apartment by King. The bags tested positive for meth and weighed approximately 7.6 grams according to investigators.

The CD was instructed to contact King again to purchase meth. On March 18^th the CD went back to the apartment and purchased 5.5 grams of meth from Scovel and King. During the transaction King injected meth into his arm as reported by the CD.

The police obtained a search warrant for King, Scovel, and their apartment. They were later transported to the Itasca County Jail.

In jail, King told police that he was the drug broker and Scovel the drug dealer.

Scovel was sentenced on Sept 7^th, in the Itasca County District, to 70 months in prison for one felony count of second-degree drug sale.

King was sentenced on Sept 19^th in Wahwassuck, to a stayed 103-year prison term for one count felony first-degree aiding and abetting controlled substance sale, according to the Herald Review.

King also received a 10-year probation, with one year in Itasca County Jail with 20 hours community service per week.
