Donation Brings Music to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd

Talented volunteers and a large, generous donation are bringing music to the halls of St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd.

Recently, the St. Joseph’s Auxiliary donated the money for a baby grand piano that sits on the second floor overlooking the hospital’s main lobby. Volunteers play twice a day for two hours Monday through Friday. Hospitals are often associated with sickness and many people are nervous to even step foot in them. St. Joseph’s hopes the piano playing alleviates some of that anxiety

While the hospital auxiliary donated the piano, the volunteers donate their time and talent to give back the gifts they have been blessed with. The music is almost meant to be a type of therapy, helping everyone in the building to relax and forget about their surroundings.

The volunteers love to help any way they can, even if it’s something as simple as playing the piano. If you would like to volunteer at the hospital, contact Deb Anderson at (218) 828-7610.
