Crow Wing County Sheriffs Office Warns Property Owners Of Possible Fraudulent Schemes Regarding Storm Clean Up

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s office is warning residents to be careful giving out their information to websites collecting personal information. According to a press release from the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office a fraudulent Facebook page and website using the Crow Wing County logo is collecting resident contact information and conducting a survey about the storm that happened in June. Neither website is affiliated with the Crow Wing County Government. To help aid the community on how to spot possible fraudulent schemes the Crow Wing County Sheriffs office is urging property owners to work with their insurance companies and be careful sharing information. Check that the companies that you hire to clean up your property are insured and bonded. Most legitimate companies will not make you pay in advance for repairs or to have trees cut and removed from your property. Many companies will offer to bill you later for their service. Sheriff Dahl is asking the public to report any suspicious activity in the area of the storm damage.
