Update: Code Red Alert Issued In Bemidji

Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin tells Lakeland News that law enforcement has made contact with the subject.  The subject is being transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital for evaluation.

Earlier a Code Red Alert was issued Thursday night by the Bemidji Police Department for residents near the Sanford Center and on the east side of Lake Bemidji to stay in their homes as police were searching for a male subject wearing a red sweater. Police also advised no travel in the area.

Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin told Lakeland News that the male is believed to have a gun and may have fired a round inside a house east of Lake Avenue and then left on foot.

Mastin says this is very dangerous as his location is currently unknown.  Authorities are asking people to stay out of this area until it is resolved.   Residents should lock their doors and report anything suspicious.
