Central Lakes College Launches Live Online
Central Lakes College will debut Live Online, allowing students to take a college class from their home. The program coming to campus this fall, allows students to live stream their class from any location, with the ability to interact with both their instructors and classmates.
Students can also replay a recording of a class session at any later date. With this method of education, CLC hopes to provide students with more flexibility when it comes to balancing jobs and families while taking courses.
Stated in a release, “With Live Online, students can actually listen to their instructor and interact in real time, Martha Kuehn, Dean of Liberal Arts said. “Students can ask questions and get answers immediately, and also listen in on their classmates’ questions, answers and discussions,” she said.“Not every student learns best by just reading material, and with Live Online, students can listen, too. The ability to hear an explanation of a concept, and see the instructor’s face and gestures, makes for much richer communication,” Kuehn said.
All that is needed to attend the class is a computer, mobile device, or tablet with a webcam and microphone and internet connection.
CLC plans to offer ten Live Online classes this fall and expand in the Fall of 2017.
