Cass County Officials Urge Caution After Flooding

Cass County authorities are asking boaters in the area to operate with extreme caution following Monday flooding. Officials said in a press release that high, swift currents are a factor in area water bodies. High water in the area caused Sheriff Tom Burch to call for a no wake zone within 300 feet of the shoreline on all county lakes. In this scenario, boat operators should only travel at or below idle speeds. In addition, Burch says homeowners should double check and make sure everything from boat lifts to boats, docks and rafts are properly secured and not floating loose. Several property damage incidents have already been reported. Cass County authorities said they will continue to monitor the situation.
