Brainerd Schools Closing Achievement Gap

Four Brainerd elementary schools were recognized for reducing the achievement gap. The Multiple Measurement Ratings that the Minnesota Department of Education released, that these schools are set to meet the state’s goal of cutting achievement gaps in half in the subjects of math, reading, and science.

Lowell, Harrison, Riverside, and Garfield Elementary were among the four schools that were recognized for their academic achievements in cutting the achievement gap.

One way these Title 1 schools can close this achievement gap relates to the data from the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments and the yearly student growth.

And one reason the gap is closing in Brainerd is due to the educators.

But Murtha doesn’t want to stray away from the success of the other two elementary schools in the district.

And they hope to continue closing the gap in future years.
