Brainerd Man Sentenced To Nearly 40 Years In Prison


A Brainerd man will spend the next 38 years in jail for shooting two victims in the head. According to the Brainerd Dispatch, Tyler Allan Cronquist, 25, plead guilty to second-degree murder with intent in the shooting death of Joseph Kroll; and second-degree attempted murder with intent, when he shot and injured Chelsey Crawford.

The shooting occurred on January 4th, 2015 in Crawford apartment. Suspect Nathan Becker who witnessed the shooting, was later apprehended. Cronquist was sentenced Tuesday in Crow Wing County Court. He received 306 months in prison for killing Kroll, and 153 months for the attempted murder of Crawford. When asked by Judge Erik J. Askegaard if Cronquist had anything to say, he replied, “no.”

The families of Crawford and Kroll attended the sentencing hearing and gave Victim Impact Statements during the trial.
