A Park Rapids Man Has Been Charged With Making Terrorist Threats At A Burger King

At about 10:30 p.m. a Park Rapids man was arrested Friday night after Park Rapids police officers responded to reports of a man with a replica handgun attempting to gain entry into the back door of a Burger King. According to the police department, Jeremy Allen Engholm, 26 was charged with one felony count of making terrorist threats and reckless use of a dangerous weapon, a gross misdemeanor. While Burger King employees tried to get him to leave the building Engholm allegedly dropped a replica handgun.

Engholm proceeded to pick up the gun and flee the store on foot and was confronted by a Park Rapids police officer in the parking lot. According to a criminal complaint Engholm allegedly challenged the officer with the gun. Engholm did not comply with the officer’s orders to drop the gun and was tased and taken to the ground by the officers. According the criminal complaint the handgun is described in the criminal complain as a .177 caliber air pistol that was designed to look like a semiautomatic handgun. In a statement to the police Engholm said he went to the restaurant with the gun to have police officers kill him. There were no injuries during the incident.
