8 Injured After Mall Stabbings at Crossroads Center

ST. CLOUD – At 8:15 pm on Saturday eight people were stabbed and injured at the Crossroads Center by an attacker dressed in a private security uniform.

According to the Brainerd Dispatch, an off-duty police officer shot and killed the attacker who allegedly made references to Allah during the attack and had asked one person if they were Muslim. The motive behind the attack is not known yet.

“The entire mall is an active crime scene,” said St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson. “The mall will be closed until further notice”.

The patients were all taken to the hospital. One was admitted while seven had non-life threatening injuries.

Before the incident local police had three encounters with the attacker, whose name has not yet been released, for minor traffic violations. The FBI have offered to help with the investigation.
